FFIV/FFIV: The After Years Drabbles

Fandom: A collection of drabbles that I wrote for the Drabble Challenge focusing on Cecil and his family (with both Edward and Rydia making a special guest appearance in one! ♥ XD), spanning both Final Fantasy IV and FFIV: The After Years.

Title: Sense
Summary: Disturbed by the immense hatred he feels emanating from Zemus, Fusoya senses something else looming on the horizon...
Characters: Fusoya, with mentions of Zemus and an allusion to Cecil later on.
Word count: 100
Rating/warnings: None really, save perhaps some small spoilers for FFIV's later plot.
Fusoya felt the hunger constantly: desire for destruction, an unstoppable poison...always directed at the world below. Zemus's hatred and appetite for death was almost tangible, radiating in waves from the bowels of the moon where his body was forced to slumber, his spirit still very much awake and howling.
All he could do was wait. The hunger he felt disturbed his very core, but still he waited.
Even now, Fusoya could sense a small hope coming closer to the moon. It was faint still, but growing.
He focused his thoughts on it--a tiny sliver of light in the darkness.
Title: Moonlight
Summary: A quiet moment between Cecil and Rosa.
Characters/Pairings: Rosa and Cecil...pairing is Cecil x Rosa.

Rating/warnings: None really.
His hair was the color of silver in the pale moonlight. Rosa had always been entranced by the color of his hair and the paleness of his skin--of the inner strength she saw in his eyes even when he was lost in thought like now.
Silently, she moved towards where Cecil stood overlooking Baron, switching his gaze to the nighttime sky at times. He didn't turn to look at her, though a slight smile played on his lips at her presence. Without eye contact, they both reached out to grasp the other's hand and stood there side-by-side...embraced in moonlight.

Summary: Ceodore has an introspective moment at the start of his own journey.
Characters: Ceodore.

The rush of wind hitting his face as the airship climbed higher into the sky caused the young man’s excitement and nervousness to intensify.
...What could he do, exactly? The constant wave of insecurity and doubt he carried threatened to overwhelm him.
Regardless, he had chosen this path--and he would do what he felt was right.
Title: Subtle Changes
Summary: Golbez has an introspective moment.
Characters: Golbez.
Word count: 100
Rating/warnings: None really, save perhaps some spoilers for Golbez's later plot development in both FFIV and FFIV: The After Years.
He cursed himself constantly, unable to free himself from the chains of self-loathing that had bound him for so many years.
The past could not be altered, the sins of his deeds stretching out before him. He'd let his heart be filled with bitterness and doubt, and was taken over by a darker force because of it...doing unforgivable things in the process. Nothing would ever change that, and the curse he put on himself was infinitely large.
But still, he would spend the rest of his life attempting to atone. That decision somehow gave Golbez an odd sense of peace.
Title: Campfire Melody
Summary: Edward plays a song that has sentimental value to him after the party makes camp...and the song strikes a nostalgic chord with Cecil as well.
Characters/Pairings: Cecil and Edward, with both Rydia and Anna mentioned as well. Implied pairing of Edward x Anna too.
Word count: 100
Rating/warnings: None really.
Rydia was already asleep...Cecil checked on the dozing child before settling down nearby, flames reflecting off of his black armor.
On the opposite side of the campfire, Edward was playing a relaxing melody on his harp. The tune rung familiarly on his ears, and he realized that it was a song from Baron.
Memories of the happier times of his life came flooding back to Cecil as the bard played. A nostalgic look was on Edward's face as well, the song one of Anna's favorites.
The music drifted through the air, a soothing end to a weary day of travel.
