Wow! I love the concept here-- since I only recently got back into fandom, I had never really considered the possibilities in a post-game FFVIII world, but the trope of Rinoa as an emotionally tortured/politically persecuted character shows up a lot in the fics I've read, and I dig it. And Laguna being assassinated-- my first reaction of course was NO LAGUNA WHY but the scenario is an excellent exposition for this.
