Drabbles and Drawings and Doooooooooom, OH MY!

I'll try to make this not-as-long. ;_;

Drabbles --

Word count: 100 each

Title: Duck!
Summary: Duck :DDD
Characters/Pairings: Edgar, Locke, Terra

“Duck!” Locke yelled, so Edgar, of course, ducked. What was it? Flaming balls? Sharp flying arrows? A fist like the hammer of God?

Nothing.

“Oh!” Terra peeked out from behind him. Edgar was about to pull her back when she said, “How cute!”

Cute?

Edgar looked up. Frowned. “Those,” he said, “are ducklings.”

Locke grinned and shrugged.

So, of course, Edgar learned. And, of course, the next time Locke yelled “Duck!” -- at the same place, even; did that man never learn? -- Edgar did not, in fact, duck, and--

Well. Suffice to say, he appreciated his angel of healing.

Title: Unchanged
Summary: Coffee!
Characters/Pairings: Luzaf
Rating/warnings: FF11 spoilers, like anyone cares >.>;;

It was the thing Luzaf missed most when he left Ephramad.

He’d brought coffee cherries with him, of course, for enjoyment and for trade. The Bastokans had taken to them immediately, extracting the beans, grinding them to powder. They mixed away endlessly, so much Luzaf was amazed at the range of flavours they’d managed to create. But there was always something missing.

When he woke, Odin gifted him with a crate of coffee cherries amongst his treasures.

Bitter as the brew was Luzaf’s laugh when he discovered the taste of imperial coffee changed not a bit in two hundred years.

Title: Of Gold
Summary: Muse
Characters/Pairings: F’lhaminn/Niellefresne
Rating/warnings: FF14... spoilers...? That no one is going to understand? >.>;;;;;

“You are my muse,” he’d say, and F’lhaminn would always believe him. He’d present her with jeweled coronets and flower-twined wristlets, and she knew she would never doubt him. She’d always thought that one day, instead of pretty chokers and jewel-encrusted scepters, he’d pull out a ring, the best the Aesthaime genius could make.

So she’d never said a word of argument when he proposed his plan -- not his hand -- and she’d never dreamed he would be gone.

“You are my muse,” he said, and she almost thought he was Niellefresne come back.

She would never sing again.

Title: GOBBLE GOBBLE
Summary: Fighting over the last tasty morsel of lunch
Characters/Pairings: Zidane, Steiner, Quina

“It’s mine!” Zidane dove for the succulent fruit, only to be met with a steeled arm.

Steiner glared down at him. “I will confiscate that for the princess.”

Zidane rolled his eyes. “Suuuuuuure, Rusty. Like you’re not just gonna gobble it up yourself.”

“How dare...” came the sputter. “I am not a lowlife like you!”

Zidane grinned. It wasn’t as if he didn’t plan on giving the fruit to Dagger anyway, but this was more fun.

Until a pink tongue appeared, and there was no more fruit.

“Food good!”

Quina frowned at them both. “You no waste food, eat all!”

Title: Hear
Summary: Music
Characters/Pairings: Laguna, Julia
Rating/warnings: Warning for me nooooooot really knowing FF8 XD;

The first thing he noticed was the sound of her voice, and he thought, Ah, that’s a girl who should sing.

It surprised him when she didn’t, when she sat down and played, and her song swept over him. She wasn’t particularly good, either -- though not bad, of course. But she was there, and alive, and he wondered just what she would say -- sing -- if she put words to that song of hers. He could almost hear her already.

And one day she sang her songs, her dreams. And he wondered if they could ever come true.

Title: Mornings
Summary: Crossword Puzzles
Characters/Pairings: Layle, Keiss

It was part of their morning routine: grab the latest paper, check the ads, do the puzzles during breakfast. Sometimes, they’d get lucky, and there’d be their room at the inn staring at them from an ugly mugshot, and they’d skip the puzzles and get to work.

But today, they’d gotten to the crosswords.

“Hey look.” Keiss smirked. “You’re in the puzzle.”

Layle raised an eyebrow and bit into his toast as his partner continued.

“‘Calamity’. 5 letters. See?”

Layle grinned. “Sure. But how did you miss this one? ‘Comes back to haunt you.’ 5 letters. Starts with K.”

Title: Adventurers' Garb
Summary: Pink
Characters/Pairings: Hyur male, Miqo'te female

“Well?” the midlander asked after their shopping trip. When he’d heard the Syndicate announce advancements in the making of adventurers’ garb, he had to go see. He felt much stronger already, really, ready to take on the world!

“It’s... um... well...” His companion seemed less enthusiastic, though he figured it was just because she couldn’t find a suitable pair of pants and had to do with a subligar. “It’s...”

“Stylish?”

“I was thinking more along the lines of--”

“Chic?”

“No, the rest is fine, but the boots are a bit--”

“Fabulous?”

“...Pink.” She arched an eyebrow at him. “And ugly.”

Title: Dance
Summary: Costume party gone wrong
Characters/Pairings: Kain, Rosa, Cecil

Kain hadn’t wanted to go. But when the king announced he was going to have a costume ball, there were two choices: go gladly, or go sullenly.

It started out well enough. Kain had spotted his friends early on: Cecil, in dark knight armor, talking to some women -- women! -- in a corner; and Rosa, dressed in white mage robes, sitting at a table.

But when Kain asked, “May I have this dance?” it all went wrong, and the dark knight took off her helmet and Kain noticed silver hair peeking out from under the white hood, not blonde.
