First of all, I've got to say that I've been wanting to read a Seifer-replaces-Squall story for awhile. When I saw this was posted, I thought YES! I felt so sorry for Seifer during the game, I want to see him overcome his own petty desires.

So the first thing I thought after reading your two chapters: Seifer is an ASSHOLE. XD. He's an asshole and I'm having a hard time wanting to even root for him. But in terms of characterization, you've got him down. He's not a lovable character and everything you've had him do so far reflects this: his narcissism, his disregard for his friends and team mates, his objectifying of Rinoa. He doesn't deserve her! He's got a lot of shaping up to do, and I can't wait to see him put in his place. :D

I enjoyed the introspection about the GF's in chapter two. The GFs and junctioning are a fascinating thing. Part of me is also interested in who you paired the others with. I always paired Siren with Selphie, but I almost always paired Zell with Ifrit. But then again, I almost always paired Squall with Quezacotl, so maybe I'm just weird...

I'm interested to see where you take this and where, if at all, deviations occur. I think you've done a wonderful job building a SeeD world sans Squall. I await the next installement! Thank you for sharing this.

Seifer is a gigantic ass, isn't he? Rofl. Don't worry, I have plans for the man. >D Though I don't all the character development in the world could ever completely get rid of his jerkface nature. Thank you for the compliment - he's a ton of fun to write, and I'm glad that my version of him is in line with everyone else's.

In game, I always always give Shiva to Squall, Siren to Selphie, Ifrit to Zell, and Quezacotl to Quistis. But I couldn't justify giving Seifer any element besides fire - he's just too tied to it in my mind. I intend to move Shiva to Rinoa next chapter, and give Ifrit to Irvine when he comes in. Beyond that, I'm not sure. I'm glad the rationalization of the gameplay mechanics didn't feel forced~ I like trying to explain things like that in fic, it's kinda fun. ^^
