Seifer is a gigantic ass, isn't he? Rofl. Don't worry, I have plans for the man. >D Though I don't all the character development in the world could ever completely get rid of his jerkface nature. Thank you for the compliment - he's a ton of fun to write, and I'm glad that my version of him is in line with everyone else's.
In game, I always always give Shiva to Squall, Siren to Selphie, Ifrit to Zell, and Quezacotl to Quistis. But I couldn't justify giving Seifer any element besides fire - he's just too tied to it in my mind. I intend to move Shiva to Rinoa next chapter, and give Ifrit to Irvine when he comes in. Beyond that, I'm not sure. I'm glad the rationalization of the gameplay mechanics didn't feel forced~ I like trying to explain things like that in fic, it's kinda fun. ^^
